The Lexington Holster from KSG Armory Exceeds Expectations!
What happens when you spend $100 on a holster, only to find out it isn't as comfortable as the manufacturer said it would be? You might return it, if the company allows it. Maybe you have enough money to toss it to the side and take a chance on another company.
But most likely you will end up doing one of the following: stop carrying your gun all the time, or carry in a sub-optimal holster. Well I can almost guarantee that this holster will be the most comfortable and serviceable holster you buy. It may not be for everyone, but if you carry IWB, want a hard-sided Kydex holster and plan to use it a lot, I highly suggest the Lexington from KSG Armory. KSG Makes some other models that are light bearing, and come with mag carriers, but for a wide-range of everyday carriers, the Lexington starting at $80 is the one.

I have wanted to address this topic for quite some time. I hope the accompanying video is a visual of the ever-present danger law enforcement officers (LEOs) face during every contact. But not just LEOs, but anyone targeted by an armed criminal. What happens in the video also illustrates a technique you may deploy under specific circumstances. As proof that Americans love guns, people cite the high number of individual gun ownership in our country. Because the government doesn't have a national gun registry (at least that's what they say), the actual number of guns owned by Americans is unknown. However, a 2018 survey estimated Americans own over 393 million guns. The population of the US at the time of the survey was around 330 million, which works out to slightly over one firearm per person. My Name Is Matthew Maruster. I Carry A Gun. And I'm A Christian. With the recent church shootings, with Christians defending life with their guns, the topic of “is it Christian to carry a gun for self-defense?” has come up a lot lately. I figured I'd tackle this topic to the best of my ability. This post is by no means an exhaustive Bible study on how God views self-defense. And, in full disclosure, I am not a pastor and do not have a seminary degree. I am simply a Christian disciple who believes that we can understand God's will by being a workman and studying His Word. I am a former police officer, combat infantry Marine, firearms instructor, husband, and father. To be clear, I'm not writing this to persuade you to carry a gun, though I think you should. I decided to write this to help people reconcile the incredible responsibility of using deadly defensive force and how that fits with God's plan for us. What does God say about His creation using defensive force that could cause the death of another?
Most people ask me which guns, sights, holsters etc. are the best. Gear is important, but it's not THE MOST important thing. When it comes to knowledge, skills and gear, I actually place gear at the end of the priority list. Here is why.
I recently looked at a product from a company called Reflex Protect. It is a less lethal gel spray that is supposed to work quickly, and have a short decontamination and recovery time. Both of those things seemed appealing. I took an exposure to see firsthand how it worked. Below you can see a video of how that turned out. Last week, the FBI released a summary of the data they collected on all the “active shootings” in 2021. We shouldn't make large conclusions based on one year's worth of data. However, we still should look at the data closely, because there is a lot we can learn.
First Responder or Citizen DefenderChances are you have heard the term first responder. The term is widely used to refer to law enforcement or emergency medical personnel who are called to respond to a specific event. But who is a Citizen Defender and why are they critical in our society? First responders do just that, they respond to incidents that have already occurred or are still developing. With the rare exception of police intuition, chance, or visible deterrence, first responders cannot protect citizens from becoming victims of crime. Depending on where you live or the time of day, a police response could take 1 minute or hours. Take the 2018 active shooter event at a high school in Parkland, Florida. The first officer did not enter a school building until 11 minutes after the shooter fired his first round. This long response occurred despite a School Resource Officer already being on the campus. This is far from a condemnation of all police; although I believe the Resource Officer behaved exceptionally cowardly in this incident. Concealed Carriers Make a DifferenceSo who is the Citizen Defender? It is you, and me. The Citizen Defender is anyone who is on scene and chooses to take immediate action to intervene in especially violent acts against themselves, their loved ones or other innocent people such as an active shooter, rape, kidnapping, assault, act of terrorism. Why is the Citizen Defender so important? Because studies, like the one conducted by Concealed Carry.com have shown that when an armed person is on scene of a shooting event, they are successful at saving lives by influencing the outcome of the event 94% of the time. Take a look at the recent church shooting in White Settlement, Texas. Two innocent people were murdered by a psychopath who entered the church armed with a concealed shotgun. The shooter was ultimately killed by an armed citizen named Jack Wilson within seconds of shooting the first victim. It isn't hard to imagine the number of victims would have been much higher had an average joe not been armed and present to immediately intervene. The Second AmendmentOur constitutionally protected right to bear arms provides those who choose to carry a firearm, with an effective tool they can use to stop evil when it manifests. The firearm is a great equalizer and useful in many incidents. However, it is not the only, or even best tool in all situations. Professional self-defense, medical and firearm training, situational awareness and a proper mindset are ideal for anyone prepared to intervene. The desire to heroically intervene was on display when brave citizens took back flight 93 from evil terrorists on the morning of September 11th, 2001. These Citizen Defenders gave up their lives to save so many others. They fought with weapons of opportunity, but most of all a determination that they would not passively surrender to the terrorists.
Being a Citizen Defender goes beyond having the latest everyday carry (EDC) gun and gear. It originates in the mind and heart of the person. Are you a Citizen Defender? |
